Hey there, I’m Louise the human voice of Ewephemia!

Here’s some stuff about me:

1) Who had the biggest impact on you while you were growing up?

My mum – she knits and sews and bakes and while I never showed any interest in any of those things growing up, they made an impact as I’m doing them now!  Well, not knitting, I’m rubbish at knitting, that’s Mum’s thing!

My Granny Mac – my sister and I thought of her as our maternal grandmother, although she wasn’t.  She lived in the flat upstairs and we saw her every day.  She knew all the tricks, especially the ‘I’m not feeling well, I can’t go to school’ ones!  ‘Wash your face, clean your teeth, and brush your hair and you’ll feel better’ was always her response!

2) What are your hobbies?

Crochet (obvs), reading, doing crafty things (I mean things to do with craft, not being crafty!)  I love yoga and aerobics too.

3) If you could have dinner with any 3 people (dead or alive), who would they be and why?

Louis Armstrong – I LOVE jazz and he was THE man.  I think he would have some fabulous stories to tell and of course play that trumpet of his after dinner!

Judy Garland – because she was wonderful and we need a singer!

Professor Brian Cox – he’s a British physicist, he makes the most wonderful TV programmes and he makes science and the world around us really interesting and fascinating and I think we can learn a lot from understanding the world around us more.

4) What sorts of things make you laugh?

Eddie Izzard talking about the Heimlich manoeuvre, the first time I heard this I spat orange juice all over the place and laughed nonstop for 10 minutes

Silly jokes

5) What is your biggest goal?

To be happy and to help others to be happy and successful in their lives.  I teach English to non-native speakers and I want to help as many people as I can reach their ambitions and beyond in English.

6) Do you have any pet peeves?

English related, this is directed at native speakers who write or say should/could/would OF instead of ‘have’.  It really really irritates me.  It’s because we contract ‘have’ to ”ve’ and people don’t speak clearly and think they’re saying of.  So annoying!  Bet you weren’t expecting a grammar lesson!

7) What do you like to do at the weekend?

8) Have you ever had a nickname? And if so, what was the story behind it?

My sister used to call me Pooey Pants, but you’d have to ask her why coz I don’t know.

A friend from my old work and my brother in law both call me Luigi, not sure why either!

My mum and dad call me Lou or Loulabelle

9) What was your favourite tv show while you were growing up?

Bagpuss, The Magic Roundabout and Play School were my favs when I was wee

10) What are your favourite tv shows now?

I have loads, I watch box sets on Amazon Prime so I can binge watch a whole series over a weekend!  The Blacklist, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Black Sails, The Big Bang Theory, Elementary, Bones, Criminal Minds, Sleepy Hollow, Ripper Street are just a few I’ve watched/am watching at the moment!

11) What are your favourite movies?

The Wizard of Oz is my joint favourite film of all time along with Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club.  I desperately wanted to be Molly Ringwald when I was growing up!

Other favourites include Gone with the Wind, Star Wars (the original three), Grease, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent, Casablanca, Singin in the Rain, Moulin Rouge
